The Struggle
I'm not talking about mid life crisis or some dark psychological issues I've been having. However it may have been a moment of madness that led me to enter The Struggle Dales sportive event.

At 108 lumpy miles around the Yorkshire dales and a tad over 10,000ft of climbing including the famous climbs of Malham, Parkrash, Hartwith Bank and Bedlam, I may have bitten off more than I can chew or at least my lungs and legs can cope with. I've ridden a similar distance before but normally at the peak of my annual cycling fitness in late summer and usually I opt for a flat profile over a longer distance. The combination of length and hillyness is a much more fearsome proposition.
I have just recovered from the usual early spring bout of man flu leaving me feeling like I've been off the bike for months rather than a couple of weeks but I now have 8 weeks to prepare myself.
Time to hit those hills and I will keep you posted on my progress.
Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!
